This ad about Lego Star Wars has a very interesting rhetorical situation. The mode of the ad is visual while the media of the ad online (because I am viewing it on a blog post).

There are two purposes of the ad. One purpose of the ad is to convince children to want the toys. The second purpose is to convince the parents of the children that they should buy the toys for their kids.

The audience of this ad is both children and the parents of the children. The audience is children because the children would be the ones actually using the toys. The audience is adults because they would be the ones that put down the money to buy the toys. If the ad was persuasive to the kids in order to convince them to convince their parents to buy the toys, then the audience would only have to be children.

Red is usually associated with bad things that you want to stay away from. However, this entire background is red in order to establish their brand. Lego is almost always associated with the color red. Other stylistic designs choices includes the setup of the 'characters' in the picture. Han Solo is standing significantly behind Leia and Chewwy. He also has a flower in his hand like a story is just beginning. This could be used to portray to the audience that the toys could be used to tell stories.

This ad could be remediated into a short video for TV as a different type of ad. The video ad could be a short storyline similiar to the Lego Batman and Lega Whatever Else They Have Created movies. Since this would just e a short ad, though, it could be short enough for it all to take place in front of the iconic red background from the original visual ad.
