When it comes to music, I'll choose several songs to listen to CONSTANTLY until I can sing it on my own at any given time. Very loudly. In my friends' faces. Currently the songs I've been working on are Over My Head (Cable Car) by The Fray, It Ends Tonight by All-American Rejects, and Otherside by Red Hot Chili Peppers. These three songs have several things in common that attracted me to them. The first similiar aspect between them is they all are upbeat and sound almost happy. On the flip side, they all seem to have a more depressing theme in the lyrics. The first one by The Fray is about being in a desperate situation that you have no control over. It Ends Tonight is about the moments leading up to a breakup in an unhealthy relationship. Otherside, the last song, is about relapsing into an addiction. The dark themes of these songs mixed with the upbeat sound widens the audience, which is honestly a great idea; it ensures that the songs attract two distinct kinds of people: those who are upset with life and those who are happy with everything going on for them. To be ven more specific, those people that are actually in the same situations that these songs describe will be naturally drawn to them.
