Cats. Cats everywhere. Fun fact, cat videos make up over 75% of the internet. I just made that up. But with cat videos, I just can't not drop everything to watch one that I come across. But in all seriousness, everyone has their own media kryptonite to analyze. Why are cat videos so effective? Exploring the rhetorical situation can help us understand:

Let's start with with the audience and the median. The median of most cat videos is, like I said before, the internet. What does this have to do with the audience, you ask? Simple. The audience, young people that love cats, are more prone to spending extensive hours on the internet. To put it simply. people who love cats also love the internet. This makes websites on the internet (such as Facebook and YouTube) obvious places to target the audience for cute cat videos.

But honestly who cares about all that? We want to know why it's so entertaining. Several things could account for this. The first is the human need for interaction between different species. Cats are a great example of that separate species. The next point that would make cat videos so popular is their distinct way that they show off cuteness and comedy at the same time.
