First of all, most people in our class picked well known movies with well-known actors and actresses. Furthermore, most of these movies are more than five years old, including: Sam Zitka’s Ferris Bueller’s Day off, Connor P. Goodspeed’s Happy Gilmore, Caroline Cavitt’s 13 Going on 30, Danielle Otey’s Hercules, Case Cain’s Rushmore, and Macauley Moodey’s Shawshank Redemption. Almost all of these movies are comedies with romantic subplots. However, the romances are not as important as the comedy aspects of these movies. A lot of the movies included a lot of action. On the other hand, only a few people picked sad movies, like Dear John (Alexis Wallace) and Dead Poet’s Society (Behrman.) There were also a few Superhero movies. Deadpool (Fuerst) and The Dark Knight (Dickson) are two excellent examples. Connor P. Goodspeed’s favorite movie is Happy Gilmore, which is a great example of a genre defining movie for the Adam Sandler comedy genre. It was one of his first solo movies and it set the tone for the rest of his career. Interestingly, the only person that picked a cartoon movies was Danielle Otey who chose Hercules as her favorite movie. All of the other movies were live action.
